Booking:
When our travel had to be delayed due to C19, Ruthie couldn’t have been more supportive in securing a new, mutually available date.
Communicating through WhatsApp was so convenient & consistent – and the flexibility in making sure our snorkeling happened and in safe conditions (esp for our 2 first-time snorkelers) was above and beyond.
Ruthie also helped tremendously in preparing us to support one of our children who has motion sickness – and it worked!

The snorkeling experience:
WOW. Whenever you’re engaging with nature, there’s a chance you won’t see much. But Ruthie’s expertise and patience led us to fabulous coral full of fish, a stingray, and 4 sea turtles. Pure magic.
But the reason we were able to fully enjoy our undersea companions was because we were so well prepared. From properly fitted fins to our careful mask fittings, nothing was left to chance.
Ruthie also provided a terrific breathing lesson with multiple tricks that REALLY worked to set even our more nervous little one at ease.
If you are traveling with kids – especially first time snorkelers – I can’t recommend Simpatico more highly.

The boat experience:
Captain Scotty’s expert boat handling, fabulous storytelling (Ruthie, too!), and kind nature made our wee sailors feel immediately at home. While we were in the water he made a delicious meal the weekend devoured back on board & still talk about!

Ruthie and Scotty also “took the temperature” and could see that the kids were getting tuckered out. So we regrouped and decided to stay in 1 spot instead of heading to the 2nd. Their generosity of spirit & the fact that we weren’t on a big party boat held to other people’s agenda made for a positive & individualized experience.

I honestly don’t have the words to describe what this meant to our family. We were on a healing trip after a major loss, and our time on the boat and in the water was full of pure joy & wonder. We came away with priceless memories & new friends we’ll absolutely be returning to in future trips to PR!

  This half day of snorkeling on The Dragon Fruit was the highlight of my family’s Feb 2022 visit to Puerto Rico. Our family of four included two elementary school-aged children… read more and everyone has varying swimming abilities – Ruthie and Captain Scottie could not have been more helpful in making sure everyone was comfortable and having an enjoyable time. We did a morning charter and while the water was a little choppy going out, it was pretty calm by the time we got to the reef at Palomino Island and we were able to see a large variety of fish (and even a sea turtle!). Safety was the main theme and I felt very comfortable with our young swimmers as they followed Ruthie around in the water. The gear was in good shape and flippers were provided. The lunch was the best meal we had on our trip and the conversation was lively and full of belly laughs. Can’t wait to return in a few years and try scuba diving with Ruthie and Scottie!

Transmitting… read more my love of snorkeling to my grandkids was on my ‘bucket list ‘and this trip more than fulfilled that wish. Ruthie taught my 3 grandkids important safety tips, ecology and snorkling techniques plus she knew where every fish ‘lived’ in the calm cove that we went too. Capt Scott made a lovely dinner and allowed two kids to be with him on the ‘Captains deck’. We saw turtles and a rainbow at the end of the day. I will use Dragon Boat charters again on every trip to PR!

We had hoped to be on an afternoon snorkel trip on Wednesday but received a text from Ruthie early Monday morning stating that their boat had broken a key element the day before, Ruthie offered to find us another tour and do whatever she could do to help us secure another trip. She was incredibly kind and apologetic, and even though the news she gave us what disappointing, we were so appreciative of her excellent communication. As it turns out, the next morning we received a new text from Ruthie saying that they had secured a new boat! Unfortunately, we had already made other plans so could not avail ourselves of this offer. Still, our sense is the Simpatico Tours is a CLASS ACT. We’re looking forward to booking a trip with them the next time we come to Puerto Rico.

  I had some diving excursions planned with another company in Fajardo, and the day before I arrived to PR they cancelled my trip due to mechanical issues. When I got… read more to Fajardo the following day I scrambled around the marina to try to find an alternative and was lucky enough to be given Ruthie and Capt Scottie’s info. I called and spoke to Ruthie, explaining my situation. She was nice enough to let me join her and her friends on an outing the following day.

Hospitable doesn’t begin to describe how warmly I was received and treated. Ruthie took her time to make sure I felt comfortable in the water as it had been a couple of years since I have been diving, her friends were super chill, and Scottie provided a great energy and potato salad that I unfortunately couldn’t finish because I was feeling a bit sea sick.

Overall, they saved my trip as the main thing I wanted to do was go diving and only had 2 days in which to make that happen. I highly recommend them for anybody visiting Fajardo. Ohand the five spots were fantastic as well haha.

Saw sharks, lobster, eagle ray, barracuda, puffer fish, turtle, grouper, eel in a short time period. Sea was calm off Palomino island. Boat was extremely steady and despite my history of motion sickness, I was hardly affected.

They are also easy to communicate with pre-trip. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

I can say it was 100% one of the best dive experiences I have had in my 3 yrs of being a diver. Ruthie was extremely attentive and paired up w me since I had been out of the water for a while.
